Who created the software?
Dennis M. Ritchie, who helped shape the modern digital era by creating software tools (Wires, 2011).
How does the software differentiate instruction for different learning styles?
Student advance through the software consecutively by following the prescribed path of instructions based on results of the assessment test. The recommended schedule is for each student to spend three 40-minute sessions each week working through the software program cooperatively in groups of two to five. According to Compass Learning (2000), the lessons thematic and follow the same pattern:
1. A prereading activity introducing new academic ideas:
2. A digital presentation of the story: and
3. Comprehension exercises that focus on sequencing, main ideas, and predicting (Simonson & Schlosser, 2010).
Does the software increase skills in knowledge reinforcement, concept development, and or problem-solving? How?
The use of software does increase skills in knowledge, reinforcement, concept development, and/or problem solving. It is beneficial because students are entitled to use thinking skills and cognitive learning strategies. The use of software programs allows the student to apply their previously learning knowledge to new life situations. Learning to apply their knowledge not only helps them comprehend the objective better, but it increases their skills in knowledge, reinforcement, concept development, and problem-solving (Eksisley, 2011).
What is the name of the company that publishes the software product?
It is Campus Learning.
How will you use this software in your own classroom? Why?
I will use the software to help me to differentiate the weakness and the strengths of the students.
